Portfolio 2:   Mill Valley Residence Goes Nostalgic

A fatigued cottage from the late 40’s was totally rebuilt from bare studs to add a second story with two new bedrooms and a family room. A superb design by Haagglund Architecture transformed this single story home into a very cool space.  The home’s kitchen features cherry cabinets with Jerusalem gold limestone counters over white oak hardwood floors.  Satin nickel hardware compliments the stainless appliances which features a Wolf range at the heart of the kitchen.  A wood picket staircase with painted wood risers and natural hardwood steps lead to the second floor master suite featuring skylights that allow views of the 200 foot redwoods that tower over the property.  The home’s exterior is made of natural cedar shingles with white painted trim.  Divided-light wood windows and beefy curved wood braces support front awnings, add unmistakable nostalgic charm giving the house the perfect Craftsman” look reminiscent of lodge homes from the 1930’s.
